The secret to a great groom is the prep work.  Our deep cleaning process makes sure to remove all the dirt and grime for the perfect style.  The bathing process also helps us find any lumps, bumps, cuts, or infestations that we wouldn't necessarily catch on a dry pet.  And last but not least, shampoo residue, dirt and grime, that you. might have missed at home in the tub can dull and ruin our clipper and shears quickly.  All grooms must include our deep cleaning bath to ensure safety, cleanliness, and a great groom!

All dogs are checked for fleas, ticks, and other infestations right when they get here.  Dogs with any pest go straight into the tub to soak in our all natural flea & tick shampoo.  There is an extra charge for any dog with any parasites, to cover the expenses of flea shampoos and the deep cleaning we must do to ensure others in our care do not take any hitchhikers home with them.  We can not supply a preventative, this must be done with your licensed veterinarian.  If you know you're dog has fleas please start with a preventative from your vet before calling us.  We reserve the right to refuse service to any pet with fleas or other parasites for the safety of our clients.  

Yesterday!  Yes we're serious.  Puppies who are never exposed to a grooming environment until they're full grown have a harder time adjusting to the sights, and sounds than a pup who's been coming in their whole life.  Bringing a pup in for grooming doesn't always mean they will need a haircut.  We offer mini sessions with just brushing, or even just playing on the table to help every pup love the grooming process!

Gateway Canine believes every single dog is an individual with their own needs, their own personality, their own being!  So having a one size fits all price chart seems a little absurd to us.  If your pet needs less, why charge more?  And if your needs more, why should someone else make up that difference?  So our prices are based on each individual dog.  Factors that determine price include their size (a 3 pound chihuahua versus a 30 pound chihuahua), their individual needs (medicated shampoo that needs to sit on their coat for 10 minutes, special style, etc), and their temperament (do they love grooming, or do they hate grooming with every inch of their soul).  We also have a variety of add on's, and services that could affect your pet's total cost.  These are all factors that make it really hard to give you an accurate price, especially over the phone when we can't see your pet, or touch your pet.  We have experienced too many situations where we quote for one thing, and the dog walking in the door is not quite how it was described, so we prefer to have no one surprised by cost when communication is tough over the phone.

All bath and groom prices include our deep cleaning bath, drying, nails clipped, ears cleaned, and anal glands checked.  Nails, ears, and glands are freebies we already are not charging for as a curtesy.  They're not extras that we tacked onto the final price.  So we can't discount something we're already not charging for.  We understand budgets are tight, and do everything we can to keep rates low.   

No shows/ no calls, last minute cancellations (less than a 24 hours notice), and/or continual re-scheduling are subject to a $50 FEE PER PET.  Clients who frequently no-show or do last minute cancellations may be required to pay a $50 service charge to hold their next appointment.  This fee will be applied toward their appointment, but is non-refundable and non-transferable if that appointment is not met.  We understand emergency situations, and will work with special circumstances when we can.  Cancellations must be made via the phone to allow us with enough time to fill your spot.  

All clients must provide proof of current vaccinations for all pets.  Please email or have your vet email a copy of your pet’s vaccination history to emily@gatewaycanine.com or we will accept a paper copy as well.  Tags are not adequate proof.

Dogs 16 weeks of age and older MUST have a current RABIES vaccination per MO state law.  We also require current distemper/parvo and highly recommend, bordetella vaccinations.

Puppies 10 to 15 weeks should be up-to-date on their first two rounds of puppy vaccines before visiting the salon.

We also require all clients to be current on monthly flea and tick prevention.
